Volunteer Committee Descriptions

Admissions – sell and scan tickets at the main entrance and manage the Will Call process. Be ambassadors for the event as a welcoming team for spectators. Greet and help direct spectators in various locations on and off course, answer any questions guests may have and provide directions.

Caddies – Help manage the caddie area to ensure caddies have all that they need. Responsibilities include managing caddy bib inventory/name backs, restocking area with snacks/beverages/meals and helping with any needs that may arise for caddies.

Ecology – Responsible for maintaining a clean environment on course and within all venues.

Golf Carts – Control inventory and distribution of golf carts to authorized personnel. Wipe off carts each morning, clean carts in the evenings and charge all carts.

Hospitality – Responsible for planning and preparation of all hospitality venues. Host corporate sponsors in hospitality areas, meeting and greeting guests, checking to see if they need anything, provide tournament information, etc.

Marshals – Responsible for crowd management, gallery noise control, cross walks, spotting golf balls and player movement.

Media Center – In conjunction with the PGA TOUR media representatives, oversee general operation of media center including room set up, media registration and credential distribution.

Operations Support – Assist in the set-up and tear-down of all on course facets of the tournament. This includes signage, hole signs, rope and stake, coolers, trash bins, etc.

Parking & Transportation – Responsible for planning and coordinating all parking and transportation needs. This includes players, caddies, spectators, VIPs, volunteers, tournament staff, etc. Check and scan all parking passes, coordinate with the tournament’s transportation operational partner to manage shuttles, direct traffic flow and help park cars. This committee will provide cart transportation for disabled spectators to and from the bus drop at the main entrance and designated areas on the golf course.

Practice Facility – Set-up and maintain the practice facility for the players by stocking and distributing practice range balls, drinks, snacks, etc. Provide gallery control of the practice areas and regulate access for the contestants and officials.

Pro-Am – Responsible for planning and coordinating both Monday and Wednesday Pro-Ams, as well as the pairings party. Duties include bag drop, player registration, concept shop, awards, pictures, auction, etc.

Product Distribution – Ensure that all areas on the golf course (tees, hospitality, inside-the-ropes, volunteer HQ, special events, coolers, etc.) are properly equipped with ice, beverages and snacks. This committee requires the ability to consistently lift items (>40 lbs.) throughout the entire day.

Security – plan and coordinate comprehensive security plan to include volunteers and hired security, including EMS and First Aid. Check credentials for the various venues.

Special Events – Assist with the planning, coordination, set-up, tear-down, registration, and overall operations for all special events prior to and during tournament week.

Standard Bearers – Display scores with a mobile carry board for groups and spectators to see. Volunteers should be prepared and capable of walking 18 holes, this position requires being in good shape and having the physical stamina for a long day spent on your feet.

Tournament Office – Assist tournament staff with general office duties prior to and throughout tournament week. Duties include answering telephones, taking ticket orders, preparing mailings, maintaining the office trailer and greeting office guests.

Volunteer HQ – Responsible for the overall operation of volunteer headquarters. Responsibilities include volunteer check-in, uniform management, answering volunteer questions and restocking snacks and beverages. Manage the distribution and return of radios daily. Assist volunteers during tournament week and create an overall excellent volunteer experience.

Volunteer Support – Primary responsibility is to coordinate the volunteer registration process including uniform distribution and handbook creation. Additional tasks include working with the various committees on their volunteer resource needs, including recruiting additional volunteers.

Walking Scorers – Walk 18 holes inside the ropes with professional golfers. Volunteers will carry a handheld smart device with PGA Scoring software and input stroke, scoring and statistical information. Scorers will also have a constant voice communication with PGA TOUR Staff. Volunteers must have knowledge of golf. Training is mandatory.
